Words of Mine ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hat Week? - Duh! Just keep the thing going any way you can. --Tennessee Williams Hat Week? - Duh! For the last two weeks, I’ve been in a hat mood. Of course, Michael has gotten me a new hat and he liked the bowler I bought, so I’ve been wearing hats, for two weeks. Why would this last week be any different than the week before? I just hate being a sheep; I like my own kind of style and that includes hats. Besides, wearing hats protect my head from the gucky energy out there. I’ve been a hat person for as long as I can remember. One of my favorites besides my felt cowboy hat was a black fedora. It was great when I would go out night clubbing in Kansas City. I’d set the brim just so that if there was a guy attempting eye contact and I didn’t like his look, I’d tilt my head and he’d disappear. Most of them got the message but a few would come up and strike up a conversation but usually they’d find another girl who was interested. Smart, huh? Not actually, I learned this trick from hanging around cowboy bars and watching them cowboys. And speaking of Kansas City, I found out today that a new co-worker is from my old stomping grounds. We spoke for five minutes straight about “do you remember this?” “Uh huh, what about . . . .?” Next week we are going to have lunch and really catch up. I’ve been away from the area 17 years this April but there are a few things I do remember. Plus, Kansas Bob keeps me up to date and then I read Willa’s Journal and she’s in the general area as well. Speaking of Kansas Bob, I haven’t heard from him this week but the last time we talked I told him about this site so hopefully he’s been logging on and catching up on what Em & M have been doing. The last time we spoke was because Michael and I were going to see a band he really likes the Cadillac Angels. They really are good too if you like “get you out of your chair and dance music.” They’re latest CD “Buckin’ the Odds” is a good one to exercise to as well as dance. When I arrived at work on Monday morning I had some voice mail from Tony of the group and later we e-mailed back and forth. His words to Kansas Bob were: “Tell Bob he missed out. He needs to move out this way.” Gee, this is what Michael and I have been telling him for years. So KB, if you’re reading this, there are now three people telling you to move. Anyway, it’s the end of the week and I, for one, am glad this week is over. 8:29 p.m. - Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
